Kate Erickson

Kate Erickson makes people look really good — or really bad, depending on the shoot. As a professional hair and makeup stylist, Kate works with models, photographers, fashion designers and agency producers to create and capture beauty. The imagery her work produces is striking in its own right, and our challenge was showcasing it in a way that best represents Kate — effortless, elegant and forward thinking.

Often on set or working in far flung locales, it's critical that Kate be able to access her portfolio at any time, from any device. Our solution was to create a responsive site easily viewed on the largest of monitors to the smallest of smartphones.

We like our stylists' sites like we like our wardrobes - pretty and fun with a touch of sparkle (can you tell one of the few ladies in the office wrote this?). Knowing we wanted a site that stuns on desktops, tablets and phones alike, we took a less expected approach to navigation for each experience.

Users explore a large-scale image grid using the arrow keys on the desktop, and swiping gestures on tablets and phones. 

We recommend weekly site visits to maintain a healthy dose of pretty in your life. Daily if you're feeling particularly glamour deficient.
